Fire boarding is the practice of using fire-resistant boards for structural steel encasement that have been treated with non-toxic additives to protect them from fire. Fire boarding is the process of using fire resistant boards to encase structural steel beams or framework in order to protect them from fire. Fire boards are usually made with materials like gypsum or glass fibres which prevents the boards from falling apart when in contact with heat.
AGypsum boards, such as Glasroc, are the most commonly used fire-resistant boards. This type of boards are treated with additives to help improve their fire-resistance, which is what makes them such a popular choice.
Fire boards are relatively porous, so we recommend using a couple coats of vinyl matt emulsion paint that has been thinned down.
