They are specifically designed to provide cavity fire protection by creating resistance to fire spreading in spaces like ceilings and roof voids, and come in a range of options, both flexible and rigid for the right fitting protection within your building.

Our fire barrier systems are a solution to internal horizontal voids around building perimeters between floor slabs and the building envelope. In the event of fire, cavity barriers will expand and seal the void to slow the burn and extend time, offering invaluable and life-saving solutions.
Here at GRJ Contracting our deadicated contracting specialists can help protect and maintain your building and systems. If you are not sure what the issue is, or want to check your compliance then visit GRJ Surveying, where our surveying specialists can assist you.

Why Cavity Fire Protection UK from GRJ?

With over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, GRJ Contracting instals cavity fire protection across the UK, achieving long-lasting results.

A cavity barrier is a mechanically-fixed lining that protects your structure in the event of a fire. Its primary intention is stopping the spread of flames and smoke via the walls.

This type of passive fire protection works by sealing off any gaps in your building's cavity. The materials used in fire barriers are sensitive to high temperatures, which means they expand when exposed to heat.
Here at GRJ, we work with a selected list of suppliers that provide only the most reliable building materials. This is why you can have complete trust in our fire barrier services.

Frequently Asked Questions
Cavity fire barriers are an element of passive fire protection that is used to prevent the spread of fire and smoke via the walls in a building. A cavity barrier works by sealing off internal gaps within walls, ceilings and other cavities in a building during a fire. The materials used in fire cavity barriers react to high temperatures and will expand when exposed to open flames.
Fire cavity barriers are required to be installed near internal cavities including eaves and verges, as well as around openings including windows and doors, and entry/exit points. They should also be placed at the junction where an external cavity wall meets a compartment floor or wall.
Yes, fire cavity barriers are required in passive fire protection to prevent flames and smoke from spreading throughout the building via the walls. There are strict regulations in place to make sure cavity barriers are as effective as they can be. According to the BS 9991 regulations due consideration as to how fire can spread through the structure of a building needs to be taken. To meet this requirement, the installation of vertical and horizontal cavity barriers is necessary.

The Fire Safety Approved Document B2 regulations require cavity barriers to provide as a minimum 15 minutes of fire resistance and hold their structural integrity for at least 30 minutes.
